Weird IV - Divine Soul Transplants, Part 2

Friday, July 6, 2012 This week Todd introduces us to the 'how' of a divine soul transplant. It turns out it's not too far from the work of regeneration. Will chanting every day heal one's spirit and body? It can't hurt to try. -Editor
Welcome back to my “weird” world. Last week I introduced you to Dr. & Master Zhi Gang Sha, who teaches that “Karma is the root cause of success and failure in every aspect of life.”1 Now, I'm a pretty practical guy, so while weird claims hold the interest of my curiosity, what I really want is a solution to go with the problem. Master Sha does not disappoint. His books are packed with specific instructions to clear many varieties of bad karma.
You can probably guess he calls the technique a Divine Soul Transplant. Master Sha says, “Heal the soul first; then the healing of the body will follow. The soul is the boss!”2 While we Swedenborgians define the word “soul” differently than Master Sha, his basic premise is that if we transplant the negative spirits that are connected to our spiritual body with good spirits we will purify our spiritual body thus providing a healing effect on our natural body. It's a case of spiritual cause giving a natural effect.
This way of thinking has such a strong appeal to me because there are just so many places where Swedenborg notes that a particular spirit had a painful, or sickening effect on his body that I think we need to take a long, hard look at this way of healing, even if we do not fully understand it. Think what our medical charts would look like if we incorporated examples like this into our healing procedures...
Who exactly corresponds to the testicles has in a similar way been made clear to me from those whose love is the opposite of married love and who strike pain into the testicles. For when communities are at work they act into those parts and members of the body to which they correspond - heavenly communities acting into them by an influx that is gentle, sweet, and delightful, hellish communities who love the opposite of what is heavenly by an influx that is vicious and causes pain. (Spiritual Diaries 5060)
Okay, but how does Master Sha suggest we rid ourselves of the dark spirits and transplant some new ones in? Glad you asked. He claims that the Divine started talking to him in 2003 and gave him instructions to provide the world “Divine Soul Downloads.” These “downloads” are basically various chants we are to do in order to cure various ailments. In doing them, we are calling on the Divine to bring Divine light into our afflicted spirit, which melts all blockages and allows our body to function properly again. You can chant silently or out loud, but he really prefers that you sing them! In case you're wondering, Master Sha also has many songs on his website you can listen to for free to get you started.
While I've felt chanting was a bit out of my own personal comfort zone, Master Sha has at least made me rethink my position because the chants he gives make some sense to me. All the chants start by asking the Divine for its help, then we offer forgiveness to those who have wronged us, and we ask forgiveness from those whom we have wronged. Then we can ask for the healing and we repeat the healing request over and over for three to five minutes, and close with saying “Thank you” three times to express our gratitude and humility.
Will it work? Well, consider this: Jesus chased out some demons by rebuking them, others by prayer. He even instructs us to invoke His name. That's really what Master Sha is doing, just without the Christian tradition. Plus, Master Sha's technique follows the New Church teaching that we must first cease to do evil, then learn to do good. Get rid of the bad first, then the Lord will replace it with “good.” Rebuke the demons, then pray or chant for good to be put in its place. Think of it like this: asking for forgiveness, which is really praying for our underlying resentment and hatred towards others to cease, then ask for the healing which is replacing that resentment/hatred/contempt with love, peace, and harmony.
Now many people take the view that just because rebuking demons worked for Jesus doesn't mean it is going to work when we do it. But Jesus does say that we do greater things when we have faith in Him (John 14:12). Is this what He's talking about? The disciples did do some amazing miracles after the resurrection. So then why do we think that those miracles are from days long past, and that they cannot be replicated?
Could it really be this simple? Think about the story of Namaan (2 Kings 5:1-19) who was told he could be cured by washing in the Jordan seven times. He refused to do that because it was too simple, but eventually he was convinced to give it a shot. And it worked. Can any disease be cured by chanting two hours a day for a few months? I say go on youtube and check out his work, because a prophet is to be judged on the fruit that they bear. A Divine Soul Transplant may sound weird, it may feel weird, but really, shouldn't your beliefs include that an unchanging God can still perform miracles today?
