New Church Perspective is an online magazine celebrating the understanding and application of New Church ideas with weekly content publication.
More than a discussion forum, New Church Perspective is based on essays and other features from a wide variety of writers on a wide variety of topics. This is a two-way conversation. Discussion and response to the weekly essays are warmly encouraged. We ask only that people are respectful of each other, the Bible, and the theological writings of Emanuel Swedenborg referred to as the Heavenly Doctrines. As editors we do not necessarily support and endorse everything written, but feel happy to publish what is offered and allow readers to comment and correct as they see fit, provided it is done fairly. The Heavenly Doctrines teach that there is perfection in variety and that where there is charity, differences in doctrinal perspective do not divide (Heaven and Hell 56, Heaven and Hell 71, Secrets of Heaven 1799). We hope to foster the perfection that comes from a wide array of charitably held perspectives. We're also taught that unity is formed from a range of perspectives when all of heaven turns to one God (Secrets of Heaven 3241). Even though we see God in different ways, we hope that New Church Perspective can be a venue which offers affirmation and support to those wishing to live a life oriented to the Lord.
The first part of the month we publish essays submitted by our readers. But on the second to last Friday of each month Chelsea Odhner offers her Meditate column which is intended to share experiences of reading and meditating on short excerpts from sacred scripture. The last Friday of each month features the Chapman Cast audio podcast produced by Pearse Frazier. The Chapman Cast offers interviews and discussion panels on a variety of religious topics.
